This large chess set combines the legendary Isle of Lewis chess pieces with a beautiful tiger ebony and maple chess board. The chessmen are a very authentic reproduction of the original Isle of Lewis museum artefacts.

These phenomenal British made chess pieces are brought to you by the Regency Chess Company. They have been created from scientific laser scans of the original occupants of the museum. The Lewis figures have become legendary throughout the world due to their unclear history, steeped on Celtic and Nordic folklore.

The large chess board, made in Spain, is almost 22 inches (55 cm) in width. These chessmen require a large square size to accommodate their bases. The beautiful rich grain patterns of brown and black really complement the colour of the chessmen and add to the mythical look of the chess set.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
