ebony for this exceptional chess set.
The 4 inch king has that famous Garvi bulb while the queen is resplendent in her coiled
magnificence.
And, though the choker bishop is as stoic and regimented as ever, it is the hand carved knight that
draws all of the attention in this Garvi set.
Intricately shaped by some of the finest craftsmen
in the world, the knight is heavy in the hand and
easy on the eye. His curved neck looms large over the
battlefield, pointing out towards the enemy
forces. Next to him, tall and hand turned, is a truncated rook that looks stunning in ebony.


Together the Garvi Chessmen make up a luxury set of
chess pieces that are now available in various
sizes and woods, including the original 4.5 inch (114 mm) rosewoods.
These ornate ebony chessmen sit upon a 19 inch (48 cm)
walnut and maple chess board made in the heart of Spain.
The ebony line that frames the playing squares complements the Garvi Chessmen beautifully.
The board’s surface is smooth and durable, made as
it is from the finest hardwoods available in
today’s market.


Alongside the board is a chess case exclusive to the Regency Chess Company, made from solid
sheesham wood and lined with protective felt. The
lid is magnetically sealed and is a vital
component when it comes to protecting luxury chessmen such as the Garvi Ebony Series.

Please note that when the chessmen are placed in the box it is normal and intentional for them to lay down on top of each other. They are NOT intended to stand up inside the box.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
