The Bath Rosewood And Walnut Chess Set

The Bath Chess Set is without doubt one of our nicest and most beautiful sets of chessmen. Designed around elements of Georgian architecture from the World Heritage City of Bath, where The Regency Chess Company was formed back in 2008. Since 2009 we’ve been selling the huge 4.25” (107 mm) version of this set on our massive 24 inch (60 cm) chess boards. It seemed crazy that this set wasn’t available to enjoy in a smaller size so we’ve developed the 3.75” king version. This means that the pieces fit comfortably on a medium sized chess board and sit snugly in our solid wooden box.


Each piece has been precisely crafted from fine cuts of rosewood and boxwood, weighted in the base for optimum balance and polished to a medium gloss. The board is one of our very traditional walnut chess boards that sets off the chessmen perfectly. Definitely one of our most precious and beautiful chess sets.

Please note that when the chessmen are placed in the box it is normal and intentional for them to lay down on top of each other. They are NOT intended to stand up inside the box.

The chess board in this set has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
