For a slightly larger set of pieces, The Abingdon 3.5 inch Ebonised Chess Men are expertly crafted with beautiful detail following the classic Staunton design. With its 3.5 inch king, these pieces are superbly finish and perfectly weighted for their size. They boast beautiful carvings, especially on the knight as they are supplied by the same chess workshop that produces some of the world’s finest hand crafted chessmen. To create the look of ebony, boxwood pieces are put through a chemical process of ebonization. The results are a very effective ebony look but not the price tag. With this size of king and the broad felted bases, these chess men will sit perfectly on boards from 18 inches to 20 inches.
